LIBRARY RULES

  • All students of the college are members of the college library.
  • Every student using the Library shall be given “ Borrower’s Tickets”, each bearing his roll number, name class and  group or branch.  These tickets shall entitle him/her to borrow books one on each ticket from any library.  Students of the Post-Graduate classes shall be given extra tickets on request which will enable them to borrow books from the special libraries.
  • Books will be issued to students in exchange of the Borrower’s tickets.  Every student who wishes to take a book shall fill in the  application form and present it at the counter.
  • When returning a book, the borrower must take back his/her ticket.  Other wise he/she will be held responsible for the book.   Books shall be returned before 3.00p.m.
  • A student who loses his or her ticket must at once bring the matter to the notice of the Librarian.  Students losing their  tickets will forfeit their right to use the library for one month.  Thereafter duplicates may be issued on payment of a fine no exceeding Rs.2/-  for each ticket lost.
  • A student who takes out a book for consultation shall return it himself/herself and under no circumstance transfer it to another person.
  • Walking-sticks, hats, umbrellas and other articles which the Librarian may deem objectionable will not be allowed to be taken into the library.
  • Students will be entitled, subject to the rules hereinafter mentioned to keep a book for two weeks from the date of issue.  At the end of the period it may be reissued to the same person if it is not in the meantime required by others.  When re-issued, the book may be retained for a further period of two weeks. Not more than three such renewals will be allowed.  The books shall be produced before the Librarian for every renewal.
  • The Librarian may recall any book any time even if the normal period of loan has not expired. 
  • Dictionaries and works on Art will not be lent out.
  • A student failing to return a book on the due date will be fined 5 paise for each day a book is overdue, Sunday and other holidays being excluded.
  • Absence from College will not ordinarily be admitted as an excuse for the delay  in returning books.  A list of students who were fined shall be put up on the notice board.
  • A student who has to pay a fine or any other charge to the library will not be allowed to borrow books till the amount  the amount is  paid.
  • Students are expected to use all books with care.  If a book is lost or damaged, the student responsible for it shall replace the book or pay the present cost of the book.
  • All marking, underlining or annotations of books whether already soiled or not, is forbidden.  Every book will be examined as soon as it is returned and if any book is found to have been marked, soiled or damaged the matter will be reported to the Principal for disciplinary action.
  • A student last using a book shall be held responsible for all defects, if he/she does not point them out at the time of taking it.
  • All payments including fines shall be paid into the College Office (Bank)  and receipts shall be shown to the Librarian.
  • The library will be kept open on all the working days and books will be issued for use at home from 1.30 p.m. 4.30 p.m. 
  • The General and Post-Graduate libraries will ordinarily be kept open during vacations from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. except during the month of May when it will remain closed. \
  • Students must return their tickets at the end of their course or at the time of their leaving the College.
  • Strict silence and decorum must be observed in the library,  The Librarian may refuse to issue books for breach of this rule.   The Librarian shall bring to the notice of the Principal any student damaging or misusing the books, talking or making any other noise or appearing in the library improperly dressed or misbehaving  in any other way.
